Going into this assignment I had a general idea of the difference between Growth Mindset and Fixed Mindset, because of psychology classes I have taken prior. In order to refresh my memory I watched a few videos and read a couple of different articles. I found this video to be especially helpful and easy to understand Growth vs. Fixed Mindset .
Growth Mindset: Intelligent's can be developed. Someone with a growth mindset looks forward to challenges and difficult situations, they see this as a way to further their intelligence. They see effort as success, learns from mistakes, and criticism. He or she uses it to improve as a result they continue to achieve higher intelligent's.
Fixed Mindset: Inteligents is stagnant, Can not be improved. Someone with a fixed mindset avoids challenges and gives up easily. He or she views effort as pointless, it will lead nowhere. This individual ignores anything negative and does not want others to succeed. As a result they stop learning and do not realize the full potential they can reach because these type of people do not believe they can learn anymore.
I have a growth mindset, the mind is ever evolving. I am striving for higher education. My grandmother is my inspiration for this believe. She is 80+ years old and still attending classes at her local community college, just for the sake of learning. A wise man once told me knowledge is power. I view this from a scientific standpoint, due to my background in psychology. We as humans only understand about 5% of our brains full capacity. That statistic tells me there is know possible way for our brains to have a fixed level intelligent's.
